ASIA GETS READY TO BE WINDSTRUCK BY JEON JI HYUN AND JANG HYUK

Jeon Ji hyun and Jang Hyuk have returned to the big screen with the movie 'Windstruck'. The film is about the beautiful but tragic love story between a policewoman and a teacher. It is set to become a hit not only in Korea but in foreign countries as well. Windstruck became the first Korean film to be given an official premiere abroad, and Jeon and Jang are already well-known in many Asian countries. Here, the two stars talk about their new movie.

TEENTIMES: Your new movie 'Windstruck' premiered in Hong Kong a few days ago. How did that feel?

JEON: I was very happy because many people came to see the movie. And they seemed to like the movie very much. As Korean cinema is receiving much recognition internationally, a growing number of foreigners are interested in Korean movies. As a Korean actress, I'm very glad about that. I hope that our new movie will be as successful as 'My Sassy Girl'.

JANG: I was very surprised when I saw the great number of people welcoming us warmly at the airport. It means they think highly of Korean movie. Actually, Korea has produced well-made films worth sharing with international audiences. I think our new movie can arouse foreign movie fans’ sympathy. The movie will be released in several Asian countries soon. I hope that the movie will be another chance to prove Korean cinema's excellence to the world.

TEENTIMES: What was it like filming the movie?

JEON: Playing the role of a policewoman was very hard. Since I'm not a real cop, I didn’t know how to use guns or put handcuffs on people. So I had to train hard. But I was very happy to work with an excellent director and talented staff. Director Kwak Jae Young and I worked together in the 2000 romantic comedy 'My Sassy Girl', so we didn't have any problems communicating each other. And thanks to my partner Jang Hyuk, I had so much fun while filming the movie.

JANG: We filmed the movie in the middle of winter. And we had to shoot many scenes at night. Bearing the cold was the hardest part. But working with the director and Jeon Ji Hyun was a wonderful experience. They made me feel very comfortable.

TEENTIMES: Miss Jeon, your character tries to kill herself in the film when her boyfriend dies. Would you do the same thing if it happened to you in reality?

JEON: I'm very emotional and I would kill myself if my beloved boyfriend died. There will be no reason to live without him. I don’t think I could overcome the emptiness.

TEENTIMES: Mr. Jang, do you believe in destiny like your character Myung Woo?

JANG: Yes. I strongly believe that I'll meet the right person at the right time. I'm destined to meet someone who was born to meet me. Maybe, there is an invisible string that ties people together.

TEENTIMES: This movie is somewhat similar to 'My Sassy Girl'. What do you think about this, Miss Jeon?

JEON: Well, I think it's not going to be 'My Sassy Girl 2' or something like that, although the movie was made by the same director and stars the same actress. The story is different, this movie is about a love story between a young policewoman and a high school teacher, and my character is also very different from that of 'My Sassy Girl. We didn’t merely look to rely on the popularity of 'My Sassy Girl'; we focused on increasing our potential through a totally different movie.

TEENTIMES: What’s your favorite scene from the movie?

JANG: I love the scene where I say good-bye to my girlfriend.

JEON: For me, the last scene where I meet the new man is the best scene. At one point in the film, my character tried to kill herself, but she decides to live again after meeting a new guy. I think the last scene stands for hope. That hope really appeals to me.
