TALK! TALK! STAR INTERVIEW: JEON JI HYUN
By Yun Hyo Won
Jeon Ji Hyun, often called Korea’s sexiest actress, is back with her new film 'Daisy'. A daisy is a low-growing European plant having
flower heads with pink or white rays. Jeon plays
a painter who is caught in a love triangle. Jeon is as beautiful as a daisy in the film
The Junior Herald: Andrew Lau, the film’s director, said you speak English and Chinese fluently. Do you have plans to work in Hollywood?
Jeon Ji Hyun: Hollywood is not my ultimate goal. I might work with foreign directors or in Hollywood, but I am a Korean actress first. I owe
everything I have to Korean films.
TJH: Do you have any future plans?
JJH: Not really. I just want to continue my work as an honest actress.
TJH: Some critics say your previous films were made for you. The focus of those films was mainly on you. Do you agree with that?
JJH: I always strive to create harmony with the other actors in my films. I am very pleased with that. I think this new film does likewise.
TJH: Everyone seems to be jealous of your figure. How do you feel about your beauty?
JJH: No one is free from faults. There are many things that I would like to change. But I usually don’t think about my faults. Once I
think about them, I worry a lot.
TJH: The 2000 film 'Il Mare' is being remade in the United States. The new film stars Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Other
films like 'My Sassy Girl' and 'Windstruck' are to be remade in other countries as well. How do you feel about that?
JJH: I’m glad my films have garnered great interests in other countries. But I think the films should be shown to the public as they are.
TJH: 'Daisy' was shot in the Netherlands. What was shooting a film in a foreign country like?
JJH: People really didn’t recognize me in the Netherlands. So, that gave me some freedom. I guess it was a little lonely sometimes.
